Proper application is vital! As a license Esthetician and a Certificated Lash Artists we are trained how to properly apply each lash. Lash extensions come in different sizes, shapes, and textures. In depth, knowledge of lashes helps the artist tailor the proper set of lashes to fit the client’s particular needs and style. Lashes come in different lengths starting at 7mm to 18mm (or even longer). Most lash artist stop around 15mm, as they should. Lashes are available in different widths and thickness; for instance 15mm is the proper width to use for classic lashes. Thickness also come in .18, .20, and .25. These widths are not recommended, as they are very heavy can weigh down the natural lash. The longer the lash the heavier they are, heavy mink lashes applied to thin natural lashes can cause damage to the natural lash. There are cases where thicker lashes are used on clients, however their natural lashes are very strong and healthy and can sustain the additional weight. Additionally, there are other factors that take place in a proper lash application such as, the type of adhesive used, sterilization and cleanness of the lashes, and how close the lash is applied to the eyelid. In general, with proper application and upkeep Mink lashes will not damage your natural lashes; on the contrary the Lash Artist chosen can if they aren’t properly trained. Side note, don’t freak out if you see your lashes shedding. Our natural lashes do shed depending what cycle that individual lash is on. The lash cycle of a natural lash is 60-90 days, lashes will then shed and be replace by a new lash. Be sure not to rub your eyes or tug on you lashes. This can cause lash loss and even damage to your natural lashes.
So, NO Mink lashes do not damage your natural lashes. The Lash Artist you choose can, if they aren’t properly trained. When picking a Lash Artist ask questions, research their work and don’t be cheap. Pay for proper work, it will be worth it.
